Hey all, man its changed around here since last I was here...

I've had a drastic change in direction in life (moving to brissy for Uni) and now my baby needs to go into long term storage, a minimum of 3 years. Its mainly the engine that I'm concerned with, but any thoughts are good...

The old advice is drain the fuel tank, run the carb until it empties, then put the vehicle on blocks (tires off the ground).

Does the $2000 include climate controlled storage? This would be good for an investment classic car.

she is already up on blocks, its more the questions like should I run an oily mix of fuel (as they say to do with other engines)...

Perthute, If I could afford that I would, but I'm going to be the cheapest ass person ever I think... maybe we could come to a deal, free storage, for a drive every now and then... lol

EDIT: the shed will be partitioned off just for the ute so there will be no movement of it, and I Will be in brissy so wont get to do anything to it for months on end, maybe see it each year

Off topic and excuse me for asking but why go to Brizzy for Uni?

I can't talk though, I'm in Adelaide for uni....

I was wondering where you disappeared to Mitch, you used to be on every day.

have you met me yet? hi im unfamilia

I have always been advised to tun it over by hand but if you droped soem oil down the spark plugs(bout 20ml per cyl) it will stop the bores rusint up and the rings ceasing.

also if theres no fuel in the lines, the seal may crack and dry (especially in those carbies)

just be extra special careful when you do see it and do through checks of the oil, water and flush the fuel lines before you drive.

clyons: Nice to know I'm missed. Will be studying photography and you can only do that in brissy, wagga or melbourne, so brissy was my choice... looking forward to the change though.

Unfamilia: Yes, we have met on here I'm sure. Thank you muchly, thats the good info I need... those are the things that I'm most concerned with.
