You've got me worried now...as he's supposed to be engineering mine as well. Has he indicated that the rules have changed or something. Anyway keep us posted.

Cadet 1200. Look away now

no really you dont want to see this next bit

Actually got a reply back from sanjay. Not going to happen. Cars weight is 731kg tare by him which is fine. But he subtracts 40kg to get the rare weight, tare minus fuel, which gives 691 which means 1.72ltr turbo is as big as you can go with him

so, gutted is so far off what im feeling right now.

Plan now is to engineer na. Unless someone has a ca16 block around somewhere. Not that i know if that would be engineerable as a dont think there is a ca16det

was planning on first inspection this weekend. All i really think ill need to do is make a new exhaust off the turbo manifold and blank off the piping. Then make a pipe to replace the cooler and connect afm and filter to the end of that. Then the ecu will just think its running off boost all the time

so yeah....what a C U N T of a day. I miss out by 30kg or 75cc

Sorry to hear that Nick. Probably thought of and tried but Surely there are other engineers in VIC to consult. Why does a Coupe get through (namely RC's) ?

P.S Dude that sounds insane. When is a car ever going to be minus fuel, Honestly I would be trying other engineers.

Wow you have brought a tear to my eyes...why didn't I look away when you told me too!
My car has already had initial inspection from him and there was no mention of the weight calculation you've described. The problem I've got is that I didn't get to the second inspection that he says he wants to complete within 6 months of signing up with him. Sounds like I might have to call him for a chat, as like you I have invested quite a bit of money gathering up all the parts I needed to make this happen, on top of the blood sweat and tears in the shed. Can some weight be added on somewhere and a weighscale be used to provide proof?

You will hopefully be ok because youve had the initial inspection. Best of luck coz i know its a really #OOPS# feeling.

Yeah andy i could try another engineer but sanjay is the only one ive heard of not being stupid with the amount of detail they go into.
Atleast getting it engineered na will get the engine number on the rego sticker and should get me out of most trouble

but yeah im pressing on. Looking like it should be na and driving tomorrow night. And will try for first inspection on the weekend

nah he contacts vic roads technical department and they advise him from the specs he gives them.

if they have some detials they also can notify vic roads of cars with mods under certification scheme before sign off. hopefully this has not happened so its not on the system yet. all engineers should be the same.

call vic roads and consult the thech area to confirm that it is minus fuel as i dont read that in the vass or adrs for vehicle weight. others have had similar issues interstae with the new regs.

realistically ca16 doesnt matter if de and t or not. turboed 1.6 is ok. he signs off making it ok remember. thats cahnge of induction type from efi to efi turbo. hopefully it doesnt need epa test for that. otherwise ca18de might be the go.

rc got in before 1st july change over as far as i remember. i thought factory weighed the car with 1/2 tank of fuel..... that would still have you just under.

Cant really see myself arguing the point with sanjay. Might see if i can talk to someone at vicroads just to be sure

Yeah im not sure how you would go with a non standard turbo setup as you probably would have to do actually emmisions tests which could all kinds of headaches

That dose not seem right, he should go off the heavy weight, wagon, then your car needs to be weighed so YOUR cars weight is the right weight, with this swap your car should come close to 1000kgs, some engginners won't take the risk anymore on these cars

Datto 13b that's not the issue Vic roads told the engineer it can be done due to what he told piggy.
Don't argue with Sanjay, call Vic roads and query with tech area. They may ask rego number.....
