did a compression test due to oil lifting into inlet system through breather system

got 170,180,180,155

dropped some oil into 155 (4th piston) and re-tested it went up to 165

what is most likely the issue? rings on 4th?
not sure what the result of the wet test would imply?

edit- just realised i did it stone cold, should i have warmed the motor first?

Unfortunatly, it does sound like time for a new set of rings at least.

Make sure when you are doing the comp test, the engine is spinning over just as fast for each cyl test.

If you can pick up another secondhand engine to freshen up, you might get away with driving this until the other one is ready to go in?

might get it through engineering on this motor as im pretty close, but then i need to change engine number after engineering.... so that may not be worth while doing

i guess this rebuild is my chance to improve the internals a bit, so what should i be doing to the motor?

Bought a CA18DE auto s13 for a slab. Motor has good compression so may go CA18DE+T

. Cleaned out the inlet on the old motor and have been driving the car around anyway... It is going well.

Today I pulled out the aftermarket seats and welded some bracing to the seat mounts as the engineer requested. Also welded up a couple of rust holes in the fowl that were left over from the original restore/paint

So that leaves very little on the engineers list now, will have to book inspection soon!
