yeah i was thinking that too
i dont think you can legaly drive a 1200 with any other engine, so i think your safest bet would be to drive the ute

damn where did you find this? ive been lookin for a coupe in sa for ages lol go the ca sleeper man, or just sell it to me hahahah He got it from me! It has been my wife's, and then my daily driver for the last 10 years - some people may have spotted it parked by Adelaide Uni as I work there I'll miss the thumbs up, and many comments at the servo I have had over the years but it is time for a 4 door car. I'll be going back to a BMW... 1200 4 doors are too expensive these days + I'm getting old and need a plush comfy ride ![]() Good to see you're excited your purchase Dan. I found the posts on your ute build (it looks fantastic) and I am looking forward to seeing what you do with the old coupe! I think blue would suit it as you've suggested, although if you want the ultimate sleeper, maybe think about the factory pale yellow! Just my 2 cents on the front end... don't worry about the stanza stuff. It already has the late 120Y struts, hubs and brakes (PBR), so just bolt on the S13 brakes suit the CA with some uprated springs. Your track width won't change anywhere near as much as with the stanza gear. See here (although there are many posts on this conversion): http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=13907 See you tomorrow when you pop round to pick it up. I'll get home from work around 5:30 - 6:00. Cheers Luke

thanx very much for all of your oppinions!
i know what you mean by having a fun weekender.... the coupe will not be as tidy as the ute, but it will be still respectable... that is my aim anyway, hopefully i wont get carried away again. Dad and my uncle dont want me to butcher the ute as all ov the front end and so on is all done... so i think i will start to collect bits for a CA18DET, 1200 coupe :) im thinking a metcllic blue with silver bits, ie grill and so on?? im looking for a motor if anyone knows of where to get one?, or has one? stanza front end? R31 diff? cheers Dan

That was my thoughts Lachie, i couldn't imagine having the fast one as a weekday hack and the slower one for the fun times.

i'v got an a-series ute as my fun car I've got no problem with having an a-series as a fun car in general but when you have both an a-series car and a CA18 powered one it doesn't make as much sense to me, but that's just me.

Why not do an L series. You say you want a daily driver, but I think It would always be a temptation to up the power with a CA18 turbo. Maybe an L18 with a Stanza 5 speed, lots of torque for traffic, with a bit of power. the engine rewiring is simple, no computers needed, & at the moment there's lots off people doing them at the moment, so answers & solutions to problems are readily available. Just a thought.
