yeah haha i thought after i wrote it that its not really that worked lol. Its prob not worth all the effort eh, i've got an a15 and twin SU's so its prob just worth using that eh

not worth writing it off, L series have a butt load more torque than A series so even a stock L series will feel kinda fast

yeah it would be worth it if i could get a kit for it, but at this stage i mite just stick with the a15, it'll still look fairly stock apart from the carbies and it'll be alright for now. if i caan find an adaptor for a 5 speed 200b 'box i'll be laughing! at least with the L18 i could bolt the gearbox straight on eh

you can put a L18 without modifying the sump, my old coupe had a cut down 180B crossmember in it, it had 180b/1600 control arms as well. Ask john13691 (i think that's his nick) he built it about 20yrs+ ago.

well if you modify a different crossmember then yeah you dont need to modify the sump...like if you somehow get a 200b crossmember in there you can fit you can fit it with the stock sump and have heaps of room, but then you have to mod the control arms and stuff also

another way would be to just cut the whole centre section out adn weld another bit in lower...but you still have to avoid the draglink, if the engines that low that is

my sump thats got about 10-20mm extra clearance atleast than a stock one and it still only just clears the drag link

mine took me about 6 months to do,L20 twin 45s 5 speed. i just cut about half the motor mounts off the standard xmember and it helps to have an auto tunnel.all up i got away with doing the whole job for about $1500. $300 bluebird,$250 tailshaft,$800 carbies rebuild, and other little bits n pieces.

i'll bet it goes alright too! I think for now i mite stick with the a15, just cop i.ve got it already as well as most of the parts. Cheers for the help tho guys

a15 better than an a12 stock thats for sure, till you get sick of the a15 power and lack of torque compared to a stock L series.
