I drove down to Airlie Beach (372km one way), competed in a motorkhana and drove back up all on a leaking radiator! I had the heater on the whole way back, they actually work quite well in summer with the windows up at 100kph give or take :S

edit: And some of the distances I do during casual pizza delivery can be anywhere between 50 to 200km a night!

me and a mate went from adelaide hills right thru walkers flat to the ferry and back with a honda 200 in the tray and a couple of jerry cans full, swags and bags. sat on 120 ish the most of the way (flat out) and used 3/4 tank of petty
i was fairly surprised

not a datto but i drove from adelaide to melbourne in my gemini panelvan and got on the ferry to tassie. drove around tassie for a week then came home during the heat wave last summer and i got just outside ballarat when it started to overheat (above H on the gauge) and drove all the way back to adelaide stopping every hour or so for 10mins to top up with tap water lol. got back to adelaide and all the welsh plugs were weaping but i drove it like tht for another 12 months then sold it off

250,000 km in 3 months! You guys are crazy.

In the 1980s I drove my 1200 sedan from WA to California Bay Area about 5-6 time (1200 mile round trip). Was only about $60 for gasoline back then! Finally said I'll never do that again, the 1200 is a little too mcuh vibration, kinda numbs the feet.

Then there was the aforementioned LA to Seattle trip last summer (1,009 miles). I said I'd never do that again.

In two weeks I'll be driving down to LA for the Japanese Classic Car Show (about 2,200 mi round trip).

These 1200s can take it. High speed, long distance, hot temperatures. Nothing can stop them except years of neglect.
