#1 FWD down the drags
1000Coupe Posted on: 2009/10/5 2:41
Im thinking of running my daily drive which is not a datsun at the next club meet at the wedsday open drags...
its FWD auto.
the problem is the trans cant handle the power and struggles with the shifts and fries the fluid. The fried trans fluid doesnt bother me its due for a change anyway)

when i floor it from standstill the front wheels just spin away right through 1st gear (it gets moving but still spinning) then when it changes to 2nd the slow shift and extra slip of the trans lets it get traction and when the power hits second gear at 7000 rpm it gets a huge whack of torquesteer that makes it jump halfway into the right lane, also nearly rips your hands and shoulders off from the steering wheel.

any suggestions?

go down the drag strip in reverse so you can pretend its a real car

crazy torquesteer is normaly something worn out
your running low profile 17's ? its best to have higer profile tyres and new has your's lookd bald and old (rubber gone hard )
rember the track is ALOT gripper than the street i dont think you will have a problem with traction
maybe you might if you go with bald old tyres and you dont warm em up with the burnout before the line but even then your not gonna be spinning much after the line

yer n drop the tyre psi too

the something worn out is the clutches in the trans u can feel them struggle withy the shift, probly cost heaps of time too. tyres yes low profile 17's about 80% worn out about a year old. Probly too dangerous Ill just watch.
