ute tiedown hooks

im gunna cut all the sill and tie hooks off theback of my ute
any tips and or tricks to would be most appreciated

the trick is to cut of short sections and weld them up as you go to maintain panel alighnment.

your cutting the hooks off not the rail ?

if just the hooks why not drill out the riverts :)

just take the hooks off, it looks so much better with just the rail..

theres two types of hooks, early modles have a pressed sheet metal hooks that have 2 spot welds and 1 small weld at the top.. i got mine off with a spot weld removing drill bit and cut the top weld with a thin cutting disc. the late models ones are made of round bar and have two stitch welds.

im cutting the rail off too
i like the idea of doing it piece by piece
i have also been told to heaps of little tacks,
so that the pannel doesnt heat up and warp

nah thats way to much effort for the amount of change it will have
i recon it will look best with no rail at all

you lose alot of the structural strength of the traywalls by removing the top lip and smoothing it.
