imho the pistons on the a14 are as tough a crown as just about forgies, ive seen them bend up valves and pushrods with hardly a nick on them. tomorrow is a 35 degree day good time to know if it pings.
so unless its pinging dont bother decompressing or it will be too laggy, since they are fairly low comp stock anyway, drop the boost a touch with the new gasket and use an IC or water inj and u should be fine. U already have the parts to toughen the weak links.

cant test it atm lol no clutch or diff :)
it runns a front mount intercooler . looks like new box flywheel n clutch new diff slap a head gasket in and see if it happens again

now you've had 12psi+ it will be hard for you to tame it down to a reliable 8-10...
