Aiden, I'll talk to my friend, see if he has any plans for this motor, will PM you with the answer. I bet Chris P would know an old diesel mechanic that can explain the liners for you. I found the SR20 liners on an American website when I was looking for KA24DE pistons, but can't remember the website.
D , the guy with the L18 can be contacted at Waterhouse Auto Care on 02-4721-7227, ask for Jamie. I tried to pick his brains, but he needed to build a motor for the next weekends rally, so I wasn't going to interrupt him for too long. He uses the 120Y in state rallies & khanacrosses, & as I was selling him a Z24 crank, I think he'd be willing to do this conversion for other people. He did mention that crow cams had some blank camshafts, but he just used the standard cams in his motor.

what an awesome way to extend the life of an old L series into the new millenium!

Love to put one in an 1200 coupe.

ive got 2 CA18de's, neither of them have oil squirters and both have crank girdles
apparently its only the early CAs that dont have the girdles

where would you find rods short enough to fit in an L18 with Z24 crank? the pistons in my L18 nearly hit the crank and its only an L20b crank

I honestly cant see the z24 crank in an l18 block with 207.85mm deck height
it would mean itll need l24 rods at 133mm, 27mm piston comp height and
rod stroke ratio will be 1.375 impossible.

I do believe an L20b goes in with 31.75mm pistons giving 1.547 but needs the
skirt to be modified to miss the counterweights.

Full sleeving/grouting an L18 to 91mm will give 2237cc

Must be using the L20b block which is 20mm taller.

i was thinking maybe Z18 block as they are the same height as L20b arent they?

and probably also have the bigger main journal size that the L20b has meaning that the z24 crank would go in easier

Aiden, the motors yours. I can probably get it out to you at Oran Park at that NSWRRC supersprint if you're still going to it. Give me a call on 02-9631-2043 & we'll arrange when to pick it up.
