All is well for the arguement gx V's weber but you are still talking about putting it on a Standard Engine. As Mick pointed out before, you would benefit from a A14 transplant or even some other mild engine mods before you go for an all out twin weber conversion. It is easy to get excited about prospect of bolting a kick ass setup like that on your car but at the end of the day you will still just have a standard engine with a monster carb setup on it that has not that much power than before.

i datto, it seems u r pretty new to modding an engine getting a bit confused, yes there is a reason why twin webbers are not a good idea for the street, it is overkill.

u r dealing with 1200cc thats a 1.2L engine. look down the throat of your standard carby and see that u have 2 butterflies one about 20mm and the other about 30mm diameter. most of the time u r only using the small one other than when u put your foot flat the secondary opens.
so do u think that having 4 butterflies of 38 or 40mm opening all the time is necessary and wont double your fuel consumption.

for such a tiny engine to use the air and fuel supplied by twin webbers would only begin to happen at 4500rpm and upwards from there. that means you also need to get the head and exhaust system and cam to flow that much as well.

And if u want to know how often and how much it costs to tune twin webbers ask do some research with alfa-romeo club owners, as all the 60's and 70's alfas came with them. Those were also some of the first twin cam engines and they have no bottom end or midrange torque, but really go at higher revs. That is engines between 1.6 and 2.0L,

I would go with either a downdraft webber, single sidedraft or the GX carbs. Otherwise unless u r racing u r just spending a lot of money to make your engine bay beautiful.

well he may get taken for a big ride of getting a lot more work done b4 getting it taken somewhere else for a dyno.

I know of the Cortina he mentions,the dyno he mentions also the hourly rate and the carby guys.
iDatto does'nt know me or what i do etc. but some people will always learn the hard way,i tried to extend an olive branch once before only to be shut down.....such is life.

i would go inj my self i know u old blokes love your gx or webbers but its hard work getting bit for em and tunning . now think 10 years time how hard it will be ;)

Idatto I should clarify...............the GX carbs are more forgiving as far as not being in perfect tune but to get that last 2% the you'll need to do the work.

remember a motor is a giant air pump so you need a system........intake/head/exhaust/camshaft etc.

Also mentioned the 32/36 weber is a nice up grade, with cleaned up ports and a GX level cam you'd get a nice boost and then the rest of the cash could go into suspension.

Whoops...My bad. Didnt realise the engine in question was a stock 1.2ltr... I retract my statement. Good advice from others here.

I had a 36DCD Downdraught Weber on a Standard A14, it made more noise, fuel consumption went down, only gain minor performance.

Later on replaced the cam to GX levels, it went far better.

Then installed a worked A12GX head(A14 Valves, big ass port job, etc, etc) on a A14, 4-1 branch, GX carbies etc, etc, now I'm making power and is able to justify dual carbies.

It's all about the overall system as some have mentioned.

In my experience with competing in Gymkhanas, GX Carbies or throttles is the best, no flooding etc. if you also need to use it to drive to the track or in town.
