Oh really, well there you go.

John I think D is referring to the flow of exhaust from valve opening (should I say valve seat) to exhaust port, it's basically a sharp turn that could certainly do with with some taming.

Efunk, just experiment. Try an oval port head and let us know how it goes.

I do have 13's on my head bolts.

This means that you have the good bolts ('13' bolts replaced GX bolts in the Nissan parts system).

All the thrift engines I have had (and seen) have had the 13 bolts.
This is because all A14s and A15s have them, both thrift engines and standard power engines.

D can u please elaborate what u mean about the "exhaust short turn radius"

I have a low drop a15 exhaust manifold i was going to use in place of the a14 manifold in order to clear the lynx crossover manifold for single weber that hits the stock manifold.
the low drop a15 exhaust manifold looks a lot more restrictive especially the sharp turn straight out of no 2 and 3 cyls and i was going to try and port and smooth all this and see how it goes, r u talking about the same thing?

Your 45 might not be as responsive with the oval port heads.
You might want to look into slight porting your round ports and
cleaning up the dags, especially the exhaust short turn radius.
Some rallye guys I met in the past praised the round port heads.
It all depends what you are after as beyond this even if you gain
10% more using oval port heads your pockets might say enjoy it as
it is: a well balanced and fun streeter.

Interesting stuff. Seems like a bit of a waste to port a manifold and stick with a smaller head.
I do have 13's on my head bolts. Its not so bad though because now I know with a larger head I could really get this thing moving!

they must have ported the manifold, as the redline/warneford manifolds are for 40's..

You might have the Thrift version A15. I suppose if you take the rocker cover off and check if it has '13' on the head bolts this is a pretty consistent indicator of a thrift engine, but you made ought to wait for some other advice. All the thrift engines I have had (and seen) have had the 13 bolts.

That isn't a biggie as it helps (as you said) with the lower revs.

It certainly sounds responsive.

yeah just a tach, the exhaust is 2", i love it.
DCOE 45 hanging off the side, its very responsive, everything EFI i have had wont touch it.
Just checked then on the head though, always assumed it was an oval port, its not.... its an M30, so round port which would account for some of the low speed torque. Damn. Why would my A15 be fitted with this head?

Oi, is that a clock attached over the steering column? Or is it a little tacho.

It looks like the factory option clock, if it is do you want to sell it??

Looks like you have a complete boot badge too......envious is me.

What size exhaust system is that? It's pretty ballsy.
