paint it yellow
its a lemon
its a camira type pulsar engine
nissan did a deal with holden and used the whole drivetrain combo
dont bother with it, to hot it up you will need pommy vauxhall bit which are expensive
sell it and get a CA

Just some extra info, the Family 2 blocks in the pulsars had a different bell housing pattern to match with the Nissan gearbox in the car. A friend was going to drop a 2litre Camira engine into his N13 Pulsar, but ran into this problem. He could have swapped the 2 litre crank & rods in, but didn't want to go to that much trouble. Crow Cams also had some grinds to suit the engine with some valve springs at one stage. This engine was revised & a twin cam 16 valve head created by Cosworth Engineering for Vauxhall, & was used in the 2 litre Cavalier race cars, & turbo charged in the Calibra. Would it be possible to get the 1.8 Pulsar block with the 2 litre crank & the DOHC cam head & drop it into a 1200. Easier to just fit an SR20DE.

Would it be possible to get a late model Nissan Micra, fit the 1.8 litre motor from a Tiida & then turbocharged it? Your answer must include parts numbers for the conversion. You have 12 months. Commence.

Family II engine was designed by GM Opel.

Yes, the J-cars were not very exciting cars.

Enough information in the picture? Sounds like it's the camira engine from what you guys are saying. The torque converter has Pulsar written on it so I guess the next question is does it have the same bolt pattern on the transmission side as the E15? Just curious.

I was kinda interested in the posts I read about fitting an E series head to an A series engine and interchanging other internals but if it's all different then it's probably of little use to me besides the sensors and the induction side of things.

Looking at the bores they aren't scuffed but they are pretty shiney so I would punt that it was burning oil.

Thanks for the help!

my mother and an ex owned camiras bec they were so cheap. the 1.8E is very economical, I do remember the earlier JD? model could do 120kmh flat out but the 1.8 E could sit on that speed,

its american design, so american quality, The "J car" was meant to be the platform for pontiac and other cars all over the world and in aust was the camira, hence models JD etc. The same engine went in the little daewoos years later.

thats the engine known as the family 2, theyre very torquey, all in by 3200rpm and good power for a 4 banger. The camira had the worst build quality of probably any holden (although not much lower than their usual standard), but the multipoint injection camira engine is actually very good. These same engines are used all over europe where they are known as the c20ne. They came in many guises but the 8v is a good engine, regardless of what other people say

can u post a pic? worst case scenario is its a 1.8 camira engine, because if it was E series from 80's pulsar the dizzy would be right to use not totally different as u said.
