another update, probably the last one before the engine is running in the car. Camshaft arrived today so i promptly got to work assembling the engine. I got the sump on then remembered that i left the damn front oil gallery plug on the bench so i had to take it all apart again!!

I got my head back today, its had about 0.020" taken off it. Ive lapped in the valves using coarse then fine valve grinding paste and given it a real good clean then assembled it

ive had a little trouble getting the megasquirt to talk to the computer but i finally had some success. I can now tune it although the base map i wont alter till its in the vehicle and running.

Camshaft was sent away today to get ground, another ground cam that i had there unfortunately had a badly chipped oil pump drive tooth so i wasnt game to take the risk of it jamming in future. Engine I should get back tomorrow from the machine shop all nicely bored and the pistons swapped over and new frost plugs and cam bearings so that will be all ready for assembly. A mate is going to skim the head to give it a nice new surface for the gasket to seal against.

for those engine assemblers, whats the best way to get the timing chain back on? i think i did it by taking the cam shaft cog off when i disassembled the engine. The last a series that i assembled i put a new chain on which had a joining link but the stock ones dont seem to have that so im not yet sure how i will do it.

looks great!! how are you finding the angle of the two inner injectors, they dont really point in an ideal direction for the a15 ports. looks like you didnt have to grid as much off with the datsun headers, with my custom one for the morry minor they go out a lot further before they go down which made fitment trickier.

what computer? other engine specs? what power approx is it producing? its great to see another person's efforts to learn from
