Find me a cheap det bottom end then Bailz as cheap as chips for my project.
The jargon is proved many ca18et owners and its not to make 16v owners insecure. Also I think its clear Im not interested in the twin cam head. 8v has its place otherwise George Fury would have used a 16v Z style head as he went all the way with a non factory fully independent all alloy adjustable custom trick rear end worth more than the whole car.

The figures are all being equal, yes the 8v comes on earlier it should be no surprise.
They have a swirl design with twin sparkplugs like the Z18et heads. Just found out the early 1984/85 s12 ca20e camshaft have the highest lift on the intake/exhast 10mm(0.394) and the longest duration out of all the ca18et ca20e motors ever made. At pick-a-part the ca18de are dirt cheap and plentiful but never seen a det.

im just saying this is a big complicated job u r trying, so make sure the power and torque curve difference between the heads is really due to gasflow speed in the haed, and not something else like turbo or IC size, or after all that work u might not get the result u were aiming for.

stright lpg should boost the torque readings a little to, i found that my low end was a bit stronger, mid range too, and tiop end as well cause of the excess gas im flowing through my set up revs higher, and cleaner.

The 8v doesnt flow as good as the 16v at the end of the midrange and top end
but thats just it and manufacturers round the world are adopting the turning off of 2 valves on a 16v till the rpm rise above 4-5k. I can get the 8v heads for nothing and are everywhere the same goes for the ca18de but Im anal about weight and torque, i want less weight and low/mid range. My driving style is 95% under 4500 so hence the choices Ive made. I didnt really want to make this thread an 8v vs 16v thread, Mik thanks for answering the pollution side for me. Also if an A series without pistons oil squirters, no extended skirt like on L series and no bearing brace can make 320hp atw I dont see how the ca18de block could be any worse with its modern webbing and less friction sohc design. The choice was an A series block with full sleeves and offset ground crankpins and E series rods for 1800cc or a stock 1.8 litre already ca18de with ca20e head.

id go the a series ,only cause easier for engineering, there may be a few more emissions things needed but stright lpg is always easier to pass as no petrol emissions gear needed.
you still may need it to be emmisions tested but any straight lpg car should get under 4.7kg co2 levels with the emissions testing automatically.

Ummm I would prefer an A series but the lack of gearboxes in the 5 speed form
steer me back to the formidable CA. Parts are so cheap for them too. Ill have to find myself a good engineer certifier. Bailz or anyone know if the ladder brace is cast iron underneath? Without the brace some ca18et are making way over 300hp atw.
