400aud for a full knife edged ca18de/t crank is a good deal anyone going and coming back from England? :) Quote: All cranks have counterweights which are generally very slab sided. this causes a slowing effect when they are forced through all the oil and gases in the sump at high engine revs. To alleviate this restriction we sharpen the edges of the counterweights to a virtual knife-edge. which allows a much easier passage through the sump at high revs. This makes the engine much smoother and dynamic increasing rev-ability and engine longevity. The front pulley and clutch cover are also part of the rotating assembly with the crank. when these are balanced they spin much more truly giving a smoother engine. An out of balance engine shortens life expectancy and gives a harsh feeling when revving hard. If the donor crankshaft needs grinding then this is charged as an extra amount on top of the price shown. This product is exchange. Email Friend Price: £254.47

so the early stanza didnt get them either :(
Oh well at least I can get a 5 speed for the ca. Im also thinking of buying some xz12r or zx14r pistons for the build once the head is sorted

DD is that a 63 series CA box?
46mpg is very appealing! CA20E compared to NAPS-Z Z20E is narrower, shorter, 77 lbs (35kg) lighter! Here is what Im going to use to re-shape the ports http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-cv3R ... feature=player_detailpage Wet sleeving A CA would be nice down the track for a zx14 head conversion :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIgq2R ... feature=player_detailpage

Fit a CA to the car first then muck around. There is a probably a lot more than just engine mounts to deal with.

the eight-plug heads (NAPS-X) got 46 mpg in the T11 Stanza. Wouldn't you want this most-efficent version?
The rwd transmissions are $81 here.

with the amount of work required to fill in
the sohc ca20e chambers i might as well just durafix fill the ports to at least improve angles and shape and make a tap for the inlet spark-plug and clean up the bump. Unless I can get a 4 spark head from O/S

They use welding to fill/reshape the combustion chambers.
In the intake ports they use epoxy.

Its a great thead and when I read this it back
then I really admired this head design which seems superior to the a-series in every way but metallurgy. The peening is careful bashing?, would love to see how its done, also the welding is an all at once job or little by little? Ive seen an L series head with awesome work done to its chambers by a dude in the US but cant find link ;( I just wonder if the durafix stuff would suit chambers???

Have a look on performance forums for a bloke called TK, he did an epic thread on rebuilding a really shagged and corroded alloy Isuzu head. He cut out chambers and all to rebuild water passages with the TIG and then work hardened it by manually peening it.
EDIT: here you go - shagged Bellett head You can view topic.
