are you using a booster?
a standard 1200 master cyl? if not, some master cyls are designed to seal with the booster unit and if used directly on the firewall they just keep sucking in air to the system. worth looking at. i swore many times before i worked this out.

Hmm, It did come with the correct setup to fit to the brake pedal so I assume its the right one.

the base of the nipple your undoing could be leaking?
we bought an air bleeder after much swearing and cursing and that works awesome (need a compressor and not sure how much it cost so potentially not being that helpfull )

Thanks anyway, I stripped the master down and all seemed ok, checked all connections etc and put it back together, bled the brakes twice and now its a fair bit better. Only have to push the pedal twice to get some firmness in the pedal so getting there, still dont know what the problem was though!

mine is still a little spongy too,mrs pumped pedal while i bled it. still not firm enough but better than a one man bleed kit i used by myself.
