hi guys, im trying to get the coupe ready for one last blast at oran park, but the last time i took it out it sheared the flywheel bolts off and basically stuffed the flywheel, but no damage to the crank. the damaged flywheel weighs 5.1kg and has no makings on it. the only spec for a standard A15 flywheel i can find is 9.5kg so this has led me to believe that i have an aftermarket flywheel, it is a race engine and i bought the car like it and have no complete idea what was exactly done. so my questions are. A)does anyone have an A15 flywheel that weighs 5.1 kg that they could take a photo of and tell me where you got it. and b)if anyone can point me in the right direction of getting a new one before january 3rd. i realise that it will require balncing and alike so the earlyer the better, i have no idea how to post photos on here but if anybody could help me i could send the a photo or two many thanks in advance kurt

sorry unfamilia i forgot about that, i pulled an A12 flywheel of a vannette this arvo but its 9.5kg, but i have a 120y flywheel i could pull of and have a look at yet. the trouble is the energy produced by the engine is stored in the flywheel, the heavyer the flywheel the slower the engine will accelerate, but it ill store more energy for longer, for eg during gearchange so your heavy flywheel will cause your revs so be sustained for longer meaning the end result is kept momentum in the engine ie more revs after you have changed the gear. with a lighter flywheel the engine will rev quicker but will also drop off quicker and loose more momentum up hills and alike and during gearchange. so unfortunaly it doesnt help me

whatever shop is doing the balancing should also be able to remove however much is required from the flywheel. just give it to them and tell em what you want.
Cheers Dave.

i under stand the principles of lighter fly wheels, hell my l16 will have a 7kg one so that will be nice (lucky score there), but a12 should be lighter than a15, how much did the 120y one weigh? i have a feeling vanette a12 and a15 may be the same from memory

I've weighed a standard A15 flywheel at 9.9kg, and an A12 at around 9.1kg
