Dave,
That's exactly why the crank pulley is spinning on the crank. Launching on a Supercharger and nitrous at 4000 RPMs breaks s h i t.
I'm hoping to get everything back this week so I can get it balanced. I go on vacation for about a month so no raciing till late August. Import Face Off is on August 25th. I'll be ready before then.
I bought some 4.11 gears so I'm hoping to be easier on the launches and more on the top end. The 4.30's are working the motor hard.
Sometimes I wish I'd built an SR20 turbo setup. NOT. 😀

Thanks for sharing here. Gives me something to read and think about. I wonder if a harmonic balancer/ damper might help? There may be some funky vibration modes going on from the shocks of hard launching? Speculation really, takes a lot of instrumentation to prove it true or false.

Ernie I think you are on to something. As a smaller motor that makes less HP , SR20 would break less parts

The supercharger pulley bolts through the harmonic/damper and into the crank pulley. The only belt I use is for the water pump and alternator and that is on the harmonic/damper pulley.
So I do have one. I'll shoot a photo when I get a chance.
Hoping to pick parts up this morning.

Back from a 3 week vacation and races are Sunday so it's time to put the car back together.
Here's a good view of the machined steel crank pulley with two extra dowel pins to keep it from spinning on the crank. The supercharger and nitrous have been wasting the stock pulleys.
This should work. 👍

Had a chance to race last Sunday at Import Face Off in Kent, WA at Pacific Raceways.
Car ran great but still tuning it.
150 shot of nitrous. Ran a 11.55 at 116 miles an hour.

Facebook Video Link

Hope to bump it up to a 175 shot at RaceWars at the end of September. And will hopefully be able to swap out my 4.30 gears with some 4.11's. I'd like to get a little bit more top end. 👍

Can the KA really take 175 shot of nitrous oxide? That's an addition of more HP than the KA24D makes (156 hp) in stock form

Last year I ran a 200 shot. I toned it down this year because I got a better tune on the motor and was running the same times on a 150 shot. The weakest link on my car now is the crank shaft itself. Pistons and rods are good for 900hp. 700hp on the Powerglide Transmission and I'm guessing my Moser 28 spline Street Axles are good for 600hp.
I think a 200 shot is not going to break anything. 👍

Doesn't the Z24 have better crank mains?
that's fast enough anyway though!

Don't have the answer to that question.
My goal is a 10 second car and 10.99 counts!! 🙂
