Bad day at the track Monday. We had a fatality. Motorcycle rider. They are speculating mechanical failure which caused him to loose control of the bike. I work with the track Fire/EMS so I'm not going mention anything further. It was just a bad day. Rest in peace Ed.

Not long ago a good friend riding home after rain, the same route he takes everyday for 30+ years didnt see a newly formed pot hole on the black asphalt as he turned at the same spot hes done of million times lost control and went into a pole. He survived some serious injuries and still has other issues but lost a leg at the hip. When there is risk involved 2 wheels are so much fun but dangers multiply considerably :( sad day mate

Thanks Dave.
Next race is the 25th I believe. I've ordered some more carb jets. Looks like 40's are the smallest idle jets for the downdraft. Currently have 45's and the idle seems to be a little rich. Idling on all 4 circuits is a lot different then on the 32/36's which only idle on the primary's. Taking a break this weekend and will work on the car next week when the jets come in.

Thanks again Dave.
Jets came in today so they are installed. I switched out the pump jets as well. The 38's came with twin 45's. It was a bit to much when stomping on the throttle. Black smoke out the tailpipe. I went back to single 50's which I had on the 32/36's.
Changed idles to 40's from 45's. Mains are still 200's. I'm going to give that a try.
Thinking about switching the rear diff ratio from 4.30 to 4.10. Will give me a little more speed in the 1/4 mile. Car has more than enough low end to launch at the line.
Seems to be working much better.

Yes, if you are revving past the peak power RPM in the quarter, switching to a higher gear should help

Has the change to a shorter run made much of a difference (are you guys not running a full 1/4 mile now?)

We run a short 1/8 mile. Not 1/4. If I switch to 4.10 I won't give up much of anything for the 1/8 but it will help me in the 1/4.

Race seasons over and nothing major to report. Ran a 6.120 fastest time in the short 1/8 mile and managed to run a 11.78 in the 1/4 at 113 mph. Will be pulling the motor for rings and bearings refresher. Valves need to be adjusted as well.
Since I'm always making changes on my car, my current project will be installing a 1 gallon fuel cell. I'm tired of buying expensive race gas and mixings fuel only to drain the tank and filling it with pump gas when I want to take the car for a drive on the streets. All to try and save money.
My plan is to run 92 octane non ethanol with Lucas Octane Boost all the time and put VP110 in the 1 gallon fuel cell and only spray it when on nitrous. My nitrous is already set up on its own fuel pump.
Should only be some minor tunning on the timing retard box.
Why did I not think of this before?
Fuel Cell showed up yesterday and I work fast. Project should be done today.
I'll post some pictures.

So I finished up this project in a couple of hours. Using some 1 1/2" aluminum angle, I fabricated brackets to hold the fuel cell to my sheet aluminum rear bulkhead. The fastening point on the left was the threaded welded nut left over from the old gas tank fastening point. Right side was fasten to the rear seat cross member. Using the angle aluminum and bolts, no welding was required.
Fittings and nylon fuel line will show up in the mail next week.
This weekend I'm taking a break on working on the car.
