Hey hey here we go another l16 1200 good to see!
I just drop the crossmember out and pull the motor and box from under the car, so much quicker than going out the top, I pulled it out again last weekend again because I bought new flywheel bolts, new clutch and 720 flywheel went in as well.

I was thinking about whether that wouldnt be easier, notice in the pic he dropped the motor and gearbox in all together on a really steep angle

I was going in from the top, but after coming close a couple times to scratching the paint or denting the rad support I stopped doing that, motors been in out more than 10 times now, getting pretty quick at it.

could have gone in without the box but then the engine would need to be suspended forwards from the mounts in the engine bay so it could get enough angle to get the box on, figured i'd give it a go trying to get it all in together to see how hard it was engines pretty stock, but at the same time has a couple of things to help it along also should have a fair bit more go than the A15 that was in there, the whole larger ports and valves thing helps alot in that department its the 13th tomorrow and we may have it running, still gotta run the engine in so we will see how we go with time oh and D, cant put Z heads on L16s or L18s as far as i know, as all the z motors are the height of an L20b therefore there is no timing cover that will fit the smaller blocks and match up with the head but its not there theres any height issues with my super awesome crossmember oh and mik, if your going to put pics up atleast take them with a decent camera

There seems to be quite a bit of concern about using the taller L20B engine in the B110 chassis. The feeling seems to be that the taller engine will be so much more difficult to fit but forum member 'R-fast' seems to have been able to make this one fit & still be able to close the bonnet. Note the method of overcoming any oil filter problems. Click on the image for a full sized view.

Where ya up to Mik ? Dodgeman others have fitted the L20b and are able to close the bonnet R-Fastmotorsport also has made a rather thick spacer between cross member and rail to raise the body off the cross member. Have spoken to him about this on the phone.

not that hard to fit an L20b in, miks crossmember would fit one easy. my old one could fit an L20b with standard carby and filter setup with a spacer under the carby and the wing nut on the top of the filter only just hit the bonnet i had 3 of them in my car before i got my super cool L18 #1 #2 #3 oh and andy, disaster struck when starting the engine....its now in pieces again so i can check stuff out. hopefully if everything is ok it will be back together and running again tonight
