Diddo. You know, apart from the blocks going in near the end of the straight, theres still heaps of vacant land around that area. Its not like it was the only place to put a housing estate! The chequered flags used in the logo of the housing estate company geats my goat up too! AHOLES!

I've had three hobbies in my life to date. Flying model aeroplanes when I was a young, flying real aeroplanes when I was 16 to 22. Then racing since then. Every single hobby has been ruined by people buying houses near these places then immediately complaining about noise or safety..."oh my god I thought the plane was going to drop from the sky and land my my kids..would somebody think of the kids boo hoo hoo!".

Guess who is now complaining about people enjoying (*enthusiatically*) driving their cars on public roads. Probably the same load-mouth mother-of-two bitch from paragraph 2.

Don't get me started on the Homebush circuit: The official attendance announced was 184,856 @ $40/ticket = $7.4 million on the first weekend! If it was a proper circuit it would have paid for itself in a few years and be open to everybody-everyday, not the lucky few for one weekend per year. And what a garbage circuit anyway...nothing but 90 degree bends on part-bitumen/part-concrete/part-manhole surfaces surrounded by concrete walls and fences.

Theres a new push for a new track in the Wyong area. See the following link from the JSCC site: http://www.jscc.asn.au/index.php?opti ... d=19:jscc-events&Itemid=2
It will be absolutely awesome to see this track be built, but I'm not holding my breathe. A similar track was planned North of Newcastle for well over a decade. The last I heard they couldn't get it through council because there was no turning lane to get back onto the main road. A pity. The council actually upgraded that road a few years back well after the submission, but before this excuse.

That sucks balls!
My heartfelt condolences go out to all the poeple who used to enjoy racing there. The brain donors who bought houses near my local racetrack whinged and bitched about the noise. FFS, you live near a racetrack! take a teasponn of cement and a glass of water and harden the f*ck up! Our local council bought a number of propeties that were the worst effected to shut them up. Good on them! Althought the newspaper was awash with letters saying it was a waste of ratepayers money. Probably the same talkback ringing wetblankets who write letters to the editor complaining about the "boy racers" that drive laps around the CBD on friday and saturday nights.
once a track is gone, it's gone. A very sad loss indeed.............

Let's hope not, would love to drive sandown one day. Unfortunately morons who buy a house near a racetrack/motorbike track then complain about the noise seem to get their way more often than not, same thing happened to amaroo.

I reckon Sandown Raceway will sadly go the same on one day.....it's surrounded by houses - the owners of which now complain about the noise after they built opposite a race track!

yes there isnt much like floating hard over the dogleg the hard on the anchors into the last corner and then pick up the throttle mid apex and tuck the front left over the ripple strip into the grass slightly (aka the john boston race line as i like to call it :p) then a big 4 wheel drift out to the concrete wall and back down the straight. bathurst isnt even like that and i live there lol.
yes rip oran park and i didnt even get to give it a good crack in either of my cars, i only got 1 clean lap in the datto with a low 1.26. and its where the gemini #OOPS# itself on my first drive :p. well i guess theres still v8 supercars 3 lol
its rediculous when you think about it, its 3 race circuits, a kart circuit, a drift track, driver training/corporate/media facility, rally school, 4wd driver centre, skid pan and they are throwing all that extra cash away in favor of a housing estate. not good

Yes indeed, look at that stupid V8 race at homebush, they spent a fortune on that which could have been spent so much better elsewhere. Not one club motorsport competitor i've spoken to supported that race.

it was decided ages ago, I cant see it being replicated anywhere, less affordable motorsports and more big event street circuits with more damage to the cars looks like the future.
