you'll be limited in shock choice if your 120y struts are the skinny ones, but you can put a big tube on the small stub axle, pm sikyne for details

i wish but no car or $$$. what if you put load spring on top ange to leave the rear soft but will stop it hitting the bump stops (would hate that mid corner)
to give you an idea im using 240z gas shocks with 190lb springs and they are pretty well matched. (mind you they are only $30 ebay gas shocks) but they work pretty well for $30 and are readily available. doubt they would fit your strut tube. there must be somethime short ebough and factory to suit your needs

ok so im planning to shorten my 120y struts with new inserts and a coilover kit so i can keep my s13 brakes and that should see the front sorted.
i wont have time to get all that done by the 7th so ive switched to gemi springs up front and they are a heap stiffer than the king springs i was using. the front has a little bounce in it becuase of the soft shocks but its already turning in a heap quicker and sitting a lot flatter through corners than it was before. so im confident that its improved somewhat already... ive taken out the load leaf on the rear springs, which seems to have helped also, but i dont have a lot of travel in the rear now as the rear sagged a little without the load spring and theres not much clearance to the bump stops. so ill try and get more travel in the mean time also... Stu im back out at Haunted Hills on the 7th to see if i can better the 64.26 i did last time. anyone care to join me? ![]()

Great to read your first hillclimb went well. Apologies if you have been emailing me lately. My home laptops (yes 2 of them) both died so I am using my work laptop to log on today. I can't get my personal emails on this one however. As has been mentioned soft in the rear is ideal. Koni make a bolt up rear shock in the internally adjustable Red range which works well. I run this shock on full soft after trialling several settings. I think I have provided you with my specs previously but if not just let me know. Well done mate Matty

i wanna see a pic or hear actual experience of someone who has had the grub screw alloy sleeve type coilover fail! the grub scres tightens the collar so that it can't screw up or down, it actually allows you to run your car lower due to only being a single collar. for $200 us you can have a coilover kit with a spring in any rate you choose and any height spring you choose from a reputable company, unless of course you are a victim of the dreaded internet story gospel and need to avoid alloy (of which all collars are anyway!)

Good to see your getting some track time in ange.Im about to pull the y off the road for a few suspension mods myself hopefully il be able to join you on a hill climb soon
Where are you racing on the 7th? Haunted hills? Mite come down for a look

as long as they are installed correctly and just not with the grub screws (ie welded a colar top and bottom like you did piggy) they are insattled securely and have as much likely hood of cracking as other alloy ones.
steel ones, if fine thread can have similar issues.

1200RC whats wrong with ebay coilovers? never had a problem with mine
would rather pay $130 for a set of 4 than say $200-300 a pair for the same sorta thing, alloy vs alloy that is You can view topic.
