The a10 above is with fluids?

bare plus flywheel and clutch 8-10kg?, old starter motor 3kg, ex/in manifold and carb/air cleaner 8kg, alternator/brackets 1kg = around 20kgs
thats around 88-90kg (fluids or not?)

I was freighted my older style a12 from up north on a lightweight skid made of
polypropelene, weighs about 5kg with a small 13 inch worn tyre so say 15kg
all up and the total weight was 130kg.
So with fluids the early a12 was around 115kg which sounds excessive and
incorrect given that its just a little taller than an a10 and with full
counterweigh crank only. Im thinking fluids or not make a big difference
but not 25kg thats silly business.

I would expect 18-22lbs of fluids so 10KG tops...........or not.

So starting from an a10
an a12 is 10kg heavier due to higher block and 5 bearing crank
sounds about right then. around 100kg dry?

Therefore say 8kg with oil, filter and water.
So around 75kg plus 20kg for ancilleries thats about 95-100kg.
Therefore the a12 should be 10kg more at around 110kg.

Hayabusa with gearbox complete is 58kg!!!

Now before I go weigh these motors, what would everyone like to see weighed, before I completely waste my time.

I was thinking, complete block, complete head, with valve cover, sump, waterpump and dizzy. crank pulley w/pump pulley, oil pump.

But no alt, associated brackets, starter motor, gearbox clutch, flywheel, manifolds, oil, oil filter, engine brackets, aircon + belts etc. These can be weighed seperately and combined to calculate complete ready to drop in motors as people are running all sorts of combinations.

Water and oil is easy to calculate as 1lt = approx 1kg, thats just silly to weigh considering you need a installed engine and finished system to fill with coolant.

Constructive non-complicated input?

Good plan WhiteSedan, if you've got a 56 and 60 series 4 speed to weigh that would also be cool - I agree with the other stuff that's pretty easy to weight - I know flywheels are pretty close to 10kg stock for instance.

very good idea mate itll make the most comprehensive way to calculate
whats needed to end the biggest argument on most threads.

Itd be great to get the weight of the ca18de block only with no head if possible
thats the bare block with internals to compare it to an A15.
I believe they are close.

The biggest mystery is whether an e15 is lighter than an a15 block.
