good point about the primary circuit not working, what could cause this? I have checked the jets arent blocked. The problem still occurs with the carby hat off

When you say you can see the fuel squirting into the primary throat, are you sure that is not just the accelerator pump and the primary circuit is actually not working? Would think that you should only see a mist from the primary venturi not a squirt.
Will idle because the idle circuit is seperate circuit but when you crack the throttle it will lean out as the accel pump shot dies out?
It still does the same thing when the turbo is removed from the equation, lid removed from carby, etc?

The jetting has been changed to suit a series but i dont think it makes any difference, by rights the engine should rev either way it will just be very rich or lean

ssskiwi - engine was running fine before adding the turbo, i have not used this particular carby before but i stripped and rebuilt it just to be sure it was all good. I have also played with ignition timing (was also working fine before) and it seems to make slight difference when advancing it but not a great deal, also it is running a std points dizzy so weak spark could be a possibility

Timing? Cam or ignition that is?

Did you (or anyone else for that matter) build the motor or was it a runner before? Just wondering if the cam or ignition timing is out it will be very flat.
Even very rich it should still rev a bit, just chug a lot of black smoke..

sounds like lack of air or lack of fuel... maybe a line is crossed or put where its no supposed to be which cancels out the vacuum?

I dont think the carby pressures are the issue because i cant get the engine to rev up at all to spool the turbo, also the problem still happens when the carby hat is removed and the float bowl boost line is unplugged
