had a bit of a thought the other day, with Nige struggling to find bits for his Dellorto's,

people have odds and sodds all over the place, and people are throwing gear away..

does anybody think it's a good Idea to send all your bits your not going to use or have spares to one place, I don't mind putting my hand up,
I'll try and put it into some kind of order and then people can look in one place when they need something??

ie Jets, Chokes linkage bits,

I'm always on the lookout for bits, but there's too many stories I hear, oh I threw all my carby stuff out.. and it's not a good thing..

+1

Maybe the mods could start another topic in the classifieds section and make it a sticky? Everyone puts up a list of all the stuff they have lying around and its up for grabs if the owner pays for postage or somwhere along those lines?

I know it kinda sounds like the classifieds but its kinda not too...

How about it?

You know mike, If I didnt know that you were genuinly a good bloke with the best of intentions for all datsun lovers the world over, i would think your carby hording tendancies are getting worse.
But I know better. I cant think of a better person to become the Australian carby recycling depot. Does the cook know about this?

Hell yes, and then you can send them to me for a cheap rebuild.

Here is a pic of a 40 PHH Mikuni that I've recently re-built (the one on the right):

It'll be too hard to regulate though, maybe one person for each state.....but even that makes things so much more complicated.

i guess it comes from what nige said the other day, he borrowed a box of bits to forage thru and pick what he needed, the owner of said box had 3 times as much but got rid of it all, and any of us that run or want to run carbs, have dramas hunting for bits, or bits to try when we're tuning,

it's hard to regulate, hard to value, it's only a thought,

like I have one 48mm choke.. and one Tiny one it's about 22..
not good for much, but if you needed one..

Five of the seven responses were local to you, with estyre buzzing over the thread (6 maybe?) I reckon it would have to be a state thing.

But when it all goes ahead, I don't have parts to offer. I certainly need parts but I can't do the trade swap thing as I have nothing to offer (just yet).

I just don;t know how it will be regulated. If people don't want their excess jets, chokes, valves, floats etc etc and they donate them to a open distributor then wouldn't that then make the parts free to whoever ever needs them? Seeing as the intention is to provide a parts.

I dunno. Good idea, but only to the people that people know.

I'm all for it.
