Well i had an interesting event

finished 9th outright and beat the other guy in my class, so pretty happy with result

the front pin on the upper leaf shackle (passenger side) busted somewhere on the second stage, we didnt really know that had happened but we knew the tyre was rubbing on the back of the wheel well, and the back brakes were jamming on

it was two and a half stages (20km each) that we continued like this until service, at service we found the broken shackle pin, and in desperation this was our best solution

swapped the back pin to the front and put a screwdriver through the other , and after frantic searching and whacking at the screwdriver we couldn't bend it, light bulb moment - put a hose clamp on it, then a bunch of race tape. We realised the brake problem was that with the diff moving back this was pulling the handbrake cable on... so that got disconneted at service too

race two more stages flat out like this, worked a treat, and made up a bunch of time. new suspension was great when i got the chance to test it out, though a bung spot light stage 5 (first of two night stages)restricted right hand turns... we had a big off at high speed as i never saw the corner until too late, car got airborne and nearly rolled. Navigator still has a sore neck from that.

so yeah, lots of adventure for us, looking forward to a straight forward race next time hopefully

no pics yet but some vid:

im car 60, after three 1600s come through, i came in a bit hot and held the handbrake for a bit longer than i would have liked to wash off some speed

Yay! new rally season

Started with a AASA run rally near Ballarat

Was great fun, had a new steering wheel, think it was a bit small as sliding around a cornr it ripped out of my hand and we ended up stuck in a ditch watching everyone go by

Was using it a s a warm up rally and discovered lots of things i want to alter so im glad for the run

Was going pretty quick, some crazy cars came down from NSW for this rally, managed to hang around the top ten until sliding off. Was happy to see i beat an RX8 and some very nice Escorts and such on some stages

some pics...

Lol, mount their seat very low, thus they can only read the odo, but not see outside.

there is

Vicrally.com.au

it's all covered in the VCRS section under the individual events documentation

the last rally of the year (cooper memorial) was cancelled, making the progressive points "5 rounds in" the final scores

we did very well this year

I was navigating this year and achieved
3rd Outright
2nd Two wheel Drive
2nd Novice
=1st in class

My brother driving achieved
4th outright
3rd two wheel drive
2nd Novice
1st in class

Cars that beat us were a 4wd turbo Liberty, RX7 and a 2ltr escort
Not bad finishing behind that group!
Most rallys have 50 plus entries

Next year i get to drive in the championship again.... can't wait

Plans for x-mas upgrades - none, except two new tyres, the little datto has been super reliable, people are always shocked to see it's still running the SU's.... but they are great!
