If I had the cash I'd buy them and shelve them for later, they are getting pretty hard to find.

They will Chris just hope your bores dont glaze with overfuelling.
Thats what happened to the intermidiate owner of my vb10.
Id say there is time for a bike mechanic if you can cruise to one?

I was at the Datsun performance centre 6 years ago and saw a
cosworth 16v lump from yesteryear that made 190hp at 95000rpm, The valves
where only 28mm inlets and 24 exhaust, similar to bike engines and
the carbs where just 40mm dellortos. The rod stroke ratio was very
high and due to the nature of the bike like setup; induction, port and
valve sizing was rather small but work in these rpm ranges well.
The mikunis/kehins are rather small but designed for high rpm air velocity
so require a good tuner to get them for auto rpm range and architecture.

Ha! Self preserving AND self lubricating!

Gylezy's uncle has one of the GTVs(??) with the isolated gearbox, interesting stuff. If these damn Mikunis don;t start behaving(sob, sob) I might just buy these.

Yes and even if not cleaned and re-jetted they will suit your needs.
Aesthetically some carb cleaner through them will come up like new
and rid any fuel gunk all the screw and nuts are still gold galvanised
as these where the last year they where used in the mid 80s.
Although Alfa sourced the carbs from Dellorto the engines where final assembled by
Southern Italians in warmer climates with laid back attitudes so everything leaked
from everywhere preserving the engine bay and its contents from rusting :)
