Well up to you,I'd just remain polite but forceful . Don't let it go past two weeks, you don't wanna look like a sucker who'll put up with it.
I'd rather give my money to someone who deserves it

nah man, i've tried to trust the trades to do the right thing, they say theyre gonna get onto it soon and i believe them, and yet ive gone in there time after time and nothing has happened. it sounds like an all too farmiliar story to me. get it out ot there asap and take it to someone who deserves your mate's business

yeah get a few mates together and just go round there and say you are taking it. not like he can really stop you from taking your own car if he hasnt done anything to it

As much as I hate saying this- speak to Business and Consumer affairs-
tell your mate to give BOTH sides of the story and find out what their opinion is. I own a business where customers cars may be stored and as far as it being legal it has to agreed upon before commencement of work or when situation arises. ( which doesn't include what's happened to him) it would smell very much like the business in question is now trying to recoup lost income on your mate taking the work of them. Hopefullyhe gets it out of there quick

If he did not give you a written quote for storage or state in writing that storage fee's may apply (if he cant be stuffed getting around to doing your job on time) then he MAY be liable to pay you for any inconveniences that the delays have caused you, you would have to prove this of course.
Going from what you have posted, give him the finger, take the car and throw the bill in his face.
