Well the engine is out again and so is the front suspension. Time to give the front suspension a make over. And also to make the final engine mounts.

Also busy with the steering rack.

Thanx. that was my first thought as well when i saw one. So it quickly got me thinking. And so it landed up in my garage. Ended up with more mods to do but i'm sure it will be all worth it at the end of the day.

160hp stock standard, sure it will give me some serious fun.............

The templates is complete for the plates on the engine for the mountings. Now it is to get the pipes bend and welded. Hope to get this finished before the weekend. Then i can get the front suspension back in the body. And then the engine in its place.

Still so much work to do........

Below is a sample of the engine mount i want to get

You don't need to modify the cross member like in the picture above, also it's much easier and neater to make the mountings from plate. Have a look at all the pics under my profile, I did the same conversion, just with a 16V, but the mounting and positioning of the motor will be exactly the same, as will most of the water pipes and stuff...

You don't need to modify the tunnel to fit the 21R gearbox, apart from a bit of panel beating with a ball peen hammer and moving the lever hole backwards about 100mm.

Must say that they look a lot simpler. Will see what i'm going to do.

At least the x-member and front suspension is back in the GX. Just need to re-grease the bearings and put them back. Then i can do all the steering bits and peaces.

Need to get the radiator to see how far the engine needs to shift back for clearance. Then the engine mounts can be finalised. Coming along slowly.

progress is very slow on my side , just not getting the time to do much work on the GX.
Wondering should i stay with the round headlights or should i go for the square ones ?

Then i also need help with the window winders , i have 2 different ones. Which one is for the GX and which one for the UTE ???
