With a comment like that it seems clear to me that we can learn from you. There must be some tricks up your sleeves.

I know the 4AGE Toyota can handle 9000 with a smile though.

rev higher than the 8500 RPM that stock Nissan A14 short blocks can handle? Just how much do you South Africans punish the engines?

Yeh we love the Toyota engines , they perform a lot better. they can ref a lot higher than the Nissan motors and they can handle the punishment. i think we (the south Africans) like to punish the engines a lot more than you. But that is just my opinion. We normally sell the original to people that love them or need them. Luckily there is people with different needs or different likes. I would love to put a SR20 in but i'm not in the mood for the necessary changes to the hood etc. Dont have the time and bucks for all of that.

Still waiting for the shell to come back from the spray painter. Can't wait to get going.
Going to run a 21R Cresida gearbox with the Toyota 4AGE twin cam motor and a Domingo fuel management system.
Still figuring out which diff to go for. Any suggestions ?

Will post some pics when i get the shell back.

decided to chuck the 1400 and go with a 4AGE 16V motor. much easier than to try and play with the 1400. can run standard twin cam for now and then turbo it later. just need to modify the fuel injection.

No it's a old one. will check on the ports later. What cam would be ok if i still want to use daily and not loose fuel consumption ?

If it's a newer bakkie 1400, fit the older oval port head & cam and it will put out a lot more HP -- if you rev it over 4000 RPM.

Hello All , just joined the site now. Currently busy rebuilding a Datsun GX Coupe with a Nissan 1400 motor. Trying to find some ideas on how to get more power out of the 1400 motor. Will be used on a daily basis so I do not want to go over board. Thinking of building a fuel injection intake for the motor.
