Re: A series clutchs ,all the same ?

They are different.
The clutch disc size is the same: 180mm with 18T spline. But the material varies. The clutch cover (pressure plate) vastly different from A12 to A14. Yes they will bolt up, but a true original A12 plate will slip behind an A14. My advice is to use the 60-series transmission (56-series is rated for less torque than A14 puts out). Use the A14 pressure plate & disc. Use the A12 or A14 flywheel, your choice. The A12 flywheel is lighter so slightly better acceleration. The A14 flywheel will provide notably smoother driving.

thanks Levey, I'll ask the local clutch place if they can swap the spline center.
DD, yeah the plan is to use the 60 series and the lighter a12 flywheel. Thanks

ok so i think the clutch i bought is for an A12 can i use an A12 flywheel with this clutch on my A14 and i know that the 12 flywheel is lighter
so i have an A12 clutch (*i think) and wheni bolt it up to the A14 i can only get the pressure plate on a little bit and then i need to use the bolt to get it flush with the flywheel will an A12 flywheel solve the problem of the clutch being wrong ?

yes any A series clutch will work (apart from the one for 63 series box) only difference is the clamping pressure. so you are best off with a HD A15 vannete clutch as im pretty sure that have the highest clamping pressure

There is nothing wrong with the pressure plate. thats totally normal, This is how the pressure plate applies the clamping force to the driven plate...... Applies load onto the pressure plate spring..

what is the difference between the A12 and A14 pressure plates ? B310 clutch covers A12A: 573-684 pounds A14/A15: 739-849 pounds So the difference is 26% more clamping force. Datsun 1200 cover is even lighter duty... Yet they are all Type C180S, so physically interchangeable. Check the stamped part number to identify.

A12 for B210 used 280KG (616 pound) clutch cover.
In USA all the different covers have been superseded by this 360KG (794 pound) cover: * C0210-H3120 Clutch Cover $112.63 USD NOTE: if used to replace an original Datsun 1200 cover you may notice increased pedal effort is required. The clutch disc is the same for all A12, A13, A14 & A15 sunny applications. It was improved in 1973, and upgraded for 1974, and various materials tried. Finally there is: * C010M-C9900VW Clutch Disc $92.83 USD

wow i would be lost without you DD !!
i bought the clutch to suit a sunny and it was the only one listede by my dealer so i thought that they were all the same ,but if the pressure plate is wrong o can always use my old one and use the new clutch dics as the old pressure plate isnt worn much at all ,but is slightly glazed up from the oil leak

B310 Sunny clutch is "correct" for Datsun 1200 B110 Sunny. But is not the original specification.
