Ive got a 1978 200B with a badly warped head gasket lying around, im thinking it needs a new engine. I was was thinking of finding another 200B engine but am wondering what else would be compatible/ recommended for the 200B. a friend of mine has a 1987 nissan pulsar hanging around with low k's, would the motor from it slot in and be powerful enough for the 200B? I'm not particularly mechanically minded so for all I know I may be way off here, and any advice would be appreciated

get another l20- depending where you are but shpould be easy enough to get one

L20 might be a difficult fit. Get a four-cylinder like the original, or an SR20DET.

Yes, same here for the later 610. Unfamiliar mentioned the L20 which is a six-cylinder engine.

I have seen 610s with FJ engine, but I reckon an SR20 is a lot lighter.

yeah apparently SRs bolt straight to the stock 200b crossmember. but for someone not particularly mechanically minded another L20b would be the way to go

Z series also bolt in, Z18, Z20, Z22, Z24 so they would be the simplest non stock conversion

L20 is also a 4 cyl engine

Sorry mate but the L20 is a six cylinder engine. When the 4 cylinder L series engine was produced in a nominal 2 litre size [1952cc] years later, they added the 'B' to differentiate it from the six cylinder version so that nobody would get it wrong.

L20 = six cylinder
L20B = four cylinder

Thanks all. sounds like i should be going for an L20B engine then. will the L20 6 cylinder engine slot in as easily as the 4 cyl? Because i would get a V6 engine for it if it wont be too much of a hassle, just for a bit of extra power...
