Yeah, cheers! I was sitting there watching the parade (not perving on cat woman) and I heard the familiar A-series purr as one of these buzzed past. I asked him to stop and I took that second picture. I also asked for him to lift the 'hood' for a closer look but he politely said "NO".

Twenty years ago a friend and I were discussing how to make a cheap air compressor out of a lawn mower engine He said, that's easy. Remove the camshaft, remove the valve springs from both intake and exhaust valves and install much lighter springs on the valves. Install a check valve in the spark plug hole. Install about a 8-10" pulley on the crankshaft and drive it with a 1/3hp electric motor with a 3" pulley. Now when the piston starts it's downward stroke both valves suck open due to the light springs on the valves and slam shut on the start of the upward motion of the piston and push air out the spark plug hole. I ran this for 18 years with no problems It will put out about 100 lbs. pressure. It would be interesting if you could do that with a A12 engine. Or any multi cylinder engine. I know that using a V8 engine with running it on 4 cylinders, (every other one in the firing order) and using the other four for air works great.

Id love to go off grid with edison style nickel lead acid batteries charged by an A10 or A12 as a generator running stove/heater gas as Ive had enough of fighting for the Gov not to fit a smart meter on my house and getting near that stage where they can get Fffffd and want nothing to do with them anymore.

My friend had a air compressor made out of a 302 ford v8. One side combustion and the other side was the compressor. It worked really well.

Years ago I wanted to make a mini roadster car for my kids with my A12. I accidentally sold the transmission. Figured an automatic would be better anyways. Still have the motor. They're 16 so figured they could just learn how to do rebuild using this motor.

Datsun Nissan forklift apparently A12 powered (unconfirmed).

I bought an engine once for parts that had been converted as a boat engine .

Nice one. How does it work? Does the A14 drive the alternator and the box invert the 12V DC to 220V AC?

I saw that on ebay, was from an ice cream van business. At an educated guess I'd say it'd be a 240V alternator/ genset. The motor (a12 I think) had a mechanical governor on it to control the throttle. Fine for fridges but no good for frequency sensitive applications.
