The wonders of the internet!

Picked up a set of five original XM falcon wheels. The guy is building a 'bash car' for a charity run and has upgraded to 5-stud brakes/diff and had them lying around.

Less than a hundred bucks for a set of five so can't complain. Hopefully you blokes are right, and they clear my brakes!

i am sure they clear 200b brakes easily- where most 13's dont. i should be sure- they were on my car for 6 months driving around.

should clear s13 set up- other wise you can go to 200b brakes. can swap you for my coil overs lol- the s13 stop way better.

s13 will fit with certian steelies, should fit with xp falcon sttelies

id stay with the s13 set up- much better braking performance if you want to keep 13's

nope :(

So anyway if someone has 200b brakes and wants steelies that clear, then I have a full set of five.

While they clear 200B brakes, they don't clear CA S13 brakes and they also out of interest don't clear R31 rear discs as I tried that as well.

Hi Leigh
Where were they hitting on the steelies? Was it where the "spoked face" is welded to the rim?
Can you get away with a small slip on spacer?

What is the plan now? Some 13" alloys definitely fit over CA brakes. I have seen it on Kev Rowley's car for example.

IMHO going to 200B brakes is a backward step. It would be great if you could find some wheels you like that will allow you to keep the CA brakes.

Have you thought about some nice dished Superlites in something like 13" by 7"?

I can confirm that that 13X6 chevoit tridents will clear S13 brakes. They also clear my U13 rear disc brake conversion.
It's bloody lucky too. I did my conversions without giving them a second though. and they still fitted. Very lucky. In my experience nothing works by accident. That said you have to win sometimes.

Agreed on 200B brakes being a step backwards, I'd rather compromise by going up in wheel size rather than down in brakes. Not that circuit work is really an aspiration of this car, but it's pretty quick (and will become quicker) so more brakes can't hurt...!

Honestly, I always thought I'd put Superlites on my car but when I tried your 15s, the look really didn't suit the car... not sure if it's the shape or the colour. Ask Sam what he thought... anyway we agreed they're not the wheel for me. Although maybe in 13s they might suit it more? Wouldn't mind fitting up a set of Globe/Challenger style wheels to check it out.

Sam said he didn't like the look either. To be honest I am not a massive fan of 15's on old cars full stop but getting race rubber in 14's is hard and spendy. 13's won't go over my SR brakes.

I personally think Superlites look awesome in 13" by 7" or 8" with decent dish. One of the guys on this site has a Sunny sports sedan with a set and they look great. The other benefit if you decide to track it is that you can pick up some second hand Avon slicks for peanuts.

I quite like the Challengers (Bathurst) in 14" by 7" too.

Bit off topic but the other benefit of staying with the CA brakes is access to inexpensive but decent brake pads. I am very happy with my Intima pads and they are only $129 for the Street/Race version which is all you will ever need.
