Hmm, I think I hate redline. Had to do sooo much work to the mainfold just to make it fit.
But it is on and i'm happy, guess that is the main thing. Finished getting the DCOM's on this arvo, just gotta tune it after I set up the idle screw. Started it and it sounds great and so responsive.

Been busy with life for the last couple of months, so annoying.
Will hopefully get a chance to work on the car this month. So i'll have a shot at porting the manifold for the webers and installing them this week. The linkages were fun.. I'll prob be looking to move the 32/36 weber on once all is ok. I have also started collecting for the next project...slapping a CAdet conversion into the ute.

Hey Zord, that manifold was the original one that had the 'bige' treatment, blasted and welded up.

I've had heavier weights than that on the back of my 1200 sedan in the early '90s! Used to just load the back seat and boot up with weight (cable) first. Needed both feet on the brake to stop it though! ZM

lol, thanks for that armiee. Was very cool to see!
I haven't updated this for a bit, so I thought I would. I have the ute on the road! Build went very well and now has 1000 km's on it. I have extractors and a new 2" exhaust on it and all seems to be ok. It does sound very 'grumpy', which is exciting. I have also just bought a set of fully rebuilt side draught webers for it. 40 DCOM's. I haven't got them on the car just yet but will most likely have them on in the next month, just need to get the manifold and open them out a bit Now I want to rebuild a CA engine for fun, just need to find one. Oh, and work on the Ute body. So, Ram Tubes, Socks, Pods, standard thin filters?

Had a fun arvo with the engine today. Got the bottom end all torqued up, head on and the rockers in and gap set. Had some fun with the rockers as there was a lil bit of concern with how close the push rods got to the little block on the underside of the rockers (just hitting). Had to die grind the step off so there wasn't any chance of the rods hitting the rocker.
Some pic's of the mods as well as where this super slow build is at ![]()

Cheers Casey. Yeah, i'm getting a bit excited about getting it on the road now. I was a bummed about having to take it of the road while building it. Would loved to have been doing up a motor on the side while driving the car. But oh wells
Since I am relativily new to re-building engines, Ernie has been a life saver Would recommend him any day mate. You can view topic.
