#1 what paint to use for restoring alloy rims?
datsunbeginner Posted on: 2010/8/16 12:03
Hey guys I am currently restoring some alloy rims myself that I bought from a fellow aussie datsun owner (could even be a member on here) last week. Not looking to have them professionally done because I am on a budget. So far I've spent 8 hours degreasing, power washing, wire brushing, and hand sanding every nook and cranny of the wheels by hand. I haven't got the wheels down to bare aluminium, but I think they are ready for paint. I've noticed some other members on here have painted their rims but no one has really recommended a spray paint brand to use. The guy I bought the rims from told me to use Killrust epoxy gloss enamel so I bought two cans of gloss black and two cans of Killrust etch primer to go on first. I haven't painted them yet because a few of my mates recommended I use engine paint or something that can withstand high temps because of braking. After researching on google loads of people seem to use DupliColor Wheel Paint for their rims but not sure if its sold in australia. So what do you guys reckon? Will Killrust do a good job?
