The serena box looks like a 71C series can anyone confirm it?

Here you go guys.
Been keeping an eye on it, been thinking of putting a ga in my 120y wagon daily. Got a 5 speed 60a here so will probably try make it work with that instead of gearbox swap.

Can anyone recomend any good distrbutorless ignition ecu's? I think i'd go that route and just ditch the dizzy and run the standard computer to run the injection (will have to mod intake manifold as it points at firewall) or run it on bike carbs.

If you look at the earlier links you can see the ga is the same height
as the A series if you include the air filter housing.
With the Ga though youd use sidedraftss or inj manifold.
DD is right here also in Vic its from you pull it yards.
Id stick with the A series as the E series needs to much stuffing around
to get it to what youd want. Its not really a bigger step up the evolutionary
scale and youd be pressed to make more way power than an A series anyway.
The CA16 is not a big jump either with 200cc less than a ca18 or qg18
but easier for boxes.

Thats so unfair.

Maybe i need to do some more digging to get a more realistic price.$1200 is just too much, and that didnt include any accessories. (no manifolds, alternator, etc)

The complete GA16DE here is also more than $200 at most yards. But pull-a-part yards charge only $100.

$200 for a GA16!!!

I got quotes of around $1200-1500 here in perth. Which is what has scared me away from them. If i can get a complete GA16de for $200 I would grab one and start mixing it up.

I know that the ca16de is harder to find and more pricey, but still, as dodgeman said, its bonnet height that is the killer in the 1000.

Still want to find out if a GA16de/CA16de head will fit an E-series block. That could prove to be an intreseting combo.

But I am still leaning towards the e16et or a15et for the 1k. Still more research to do.

You will need to weld up and re-shape the galleries for oil and
water and offset bore the engine with sleeves to suit the head.
Then make your own mechanism to run the chain or belt no easy task.

if you have a pollution engine e series then it will cost more
to fit a later head on it than sourcing a complete ga or ca
engine of the 1.6 variety.
Stick to the simple ohc 8v e series in your case as lemonH is
only doing it to keep the A series in its class requirements.
I can get a complete ga for a little over 200 at most wreckers
so an extra 200 dollars beats trying to fit a ga or ca head on
an e series block anyday.

Otherwise you might as well fit a cbr1000xx head on the e series
which would be a magnesium head with all the goodies in it.

Lemonhead,

Since it seems that you plan to use a GA16de head on an a series, im wondering how yu plan to drive the overhead cams?

Just to make it eaiser, would a GA16/ca16de head fit onto an E-series block.

The e series aleadry supports OHC so no magic setups needed like on an a series.

I have just scored a load of e-series stuff for nix, including manifolds, computer, harness heads etc. (its still in Beverly at this stage though...)

If you can stuff a twin OHC CA16de head onto an a-series, then surely it will fit an e-series eaiser.

The next question is then, if a CA16de head can fit to a e-series, what about the more common ca18de head

Anyone in perth wanna donate a CA16/18 head to me for experiments?

This sounds like the best porn I have ever seen... keep it up :)

Strong medicine this one.

Now I gotta build my first A13 with the 'H' beam rods & cast flat tops as a 'touring' engine. [Yeah, right.]
