Thank you Dundee1000.

Found a picture of some bolt on goodies for the new motor.

Just have to order the dry sump rocker cover from TDC to have all that is needed to get the motor going with an A-series head.

If you where to look at a 1000 a light engine is best and
for that matter the A, E, CA, GA and QG would be a nice pick.

The CA and QG would be the best in the 1200 unless you can fit
a reliable and easy to get L series however the L series is a
big motor as Nick pointed out and would be close to the SR.

If you want old school reliability Im thinking the A
if you want modern and reliable Im leaning to the GA, QG now
only due to its toyota 4age like cosworth architecture where
CAs has hydraulic lifters. CA has best high end power potential.
All Nissan engines seem realible with good servicing yet the A,
GA and QG have no timing belts a definite bonus.

Now Id be interested to see the weight difference between
an NA ga16, qg18 and ca18 to see if there is an advantage
in this area.

DD the ca16de suffers less than the ca18de and ca20e from
head gasket failures due to the smaller bores yet weighs
the same as the ca18de. Id prefer the extra 200cc unless turboing
with capacity restrictions where the ca18de is not legal.

The CA motors have the most affordable rwd aftermarket and
factory support for manifolds so size vs cost per hp its a winner.

I was at the wreckers today and saw two Nissan Sentra cars with CA16DE.

Is that better than an A15 or E15? We all know how well the CA swaps into Datsun 1200.

awesome work Lemonhead, big fan of your work.. will be interesting to see it go...

the beauty of the A is the weight, it's simple and ultra reliable, I'm sticking with it..
in the 1000 having 650kg to start with is always an advantage..

i'd like to see what an e15et makes when dyno'd, then i can say its not worth an engine conversion to get X amount of power

L20b still isnt easy to fit to a 1200, CA is much easier

115hp is turbo E series an A series turbo will
make more a-la-topgear 100kwatw.

115hp is the restricted hp of the ga16 in NA vs e15et

L series too heavy/big for a K but good for a 1200.

80 HP vs 115 HP is not just a "tiny bit more".

Certainly it will take some sweat and tears to fit the E-series, but if you can do the work yourself it is cheap. One guy just cut the firewll a bit to fit the engine distriubtor cap, etc.

A much easier swap is L20B. It has so much more torque that the peak HP rating is not comparable to the smaller engines.

Purpose of this thread? Let's ask the OP.
