I know what you mean DD

I doubt that there is anything that has the clean lines the a-series. And I have bucket loads of parts for em.
I also have a sense of originalyity for the a-series for the thou. I know it was an a10, but the a15 is the same family.

But the e-series is just so attractive for the ease of install.

I will still have to make custom mounts for the a15 in install.

the e-series bolts up to the gearbox easy enough.

it ceratinly is worth some more research into performance. I have a friend that rallyed an exa for a while, before he went to a honda prelude. They ditched the exa simply cause it couldnt produce enough speed on the gravel in NA form. He reckons in the turbo form, it would have, but thats another class etc.

He has a heap of parts lying about at home, so im gonna raid his pile for some trails i think.

The only problem is it is so ugly. Scalloped valve cover...

Good motor the E-Series.

The only thing stopping me from doing the same thing is the fact that I love the A-Series. I can;t imagine seeing any other kind of rocker cover under the bonnet (unless it has Tomei 1300 written on it!).

There was a very powerful E-Series engine for sale from a member here some years ago and with similar work carried out (in what you'd do to an A-Series) it produced some very impressive (I should say surprising) figures......and it sold for $600.00 which was about a 6th of what it was worth.

Do it Reuben, the only hurdle is the dizzie but I'm sure you can adapt a different ignition system (crank ignition?). All the other little nigglings are fairly easy to address.

Good luck if you take it on.

Also interested in opinions on this since they still seem to be sitting in wrecking yards. The one in my Nana's Prarie is still kicking on strong. From what I've read the conversion is similar, especially if going for coil on plug!

You can get 115HP from an A15 turbo not too difficult. Just use an intercooler. The E15ET did not use one and was limited to a maybe 5 pounds of boost.

Folks

Been doing some thinking, and just to get some opinions, whats people take om the E15 vs A15 engine

E series - gets EFI, OHC, Turbo as standard.115hp at flywheel standard
A series - indestructable.69hp at the flywheel standard.

My project plans was for an EFI, turbo a15 into the 1000 4 door and by the time you get the manifolds and efi gear together, a e-series starts to look appealing, cost wise that is.

Im keen to keep the A15 as its in the shed, ready to go, all new a rebuilt.

Just chasing opinions is all folks.
