A-bar / A-frame for towing

Have any of you guys ever built up a-bar/frames for your 1200's to tow? I have to tow about 200km in a few weeks and dont feel like renting out a massive trailor (the place im going to race realy dont have much parking) and was thinking of making up a simple a-frame.
If you have some pics please share, especialy where you mounted it to the chassis.

its goin to be harder then you think you need the lights to be pluged in like a trailer, lock the front wheels straight. and i doubt it will tow very nice wont like goin around coners at all. but hey who am i to jugde. ill be very intrested in it.

seen it done on a few rally cars when I was racing, they had a seperate loom spliced into the rear lights with a trailer plug at the front.
Think some of them doubled up the front tow eyes as the connection point for the A-frame. From memory they left the front wheels unlocked?

You dont lock the wheels... the wheels follow the vehicle in front... that said you can not reverse at all, only forward
Wiring and lights are easy my only issue is how on the B110 you can get some nice tabs forward for the A-frame, i do not want to cut the body and preferably not have to remove anything My old dune buggy used an A-frame, I towed that thing probably 10 000km over the 3 years I raced it... so simple

Rezlo, I tow my 1200 and 1400 bakkie around to races with a A Frame, it is a dream to tow the Datsuns. In your case it could be more difficult as you do not want to remove anything. But what I would suggest is remove the front bumper brackets. Use some decent 40 x 8 or 40 x 10 flat iron and make some new brackets that fastens to the original bumper bracket holes, with 12mm holes in the front to bolt the aframe to, add another piece of say 3-4mm on the inside of the engine bay with 10 or 12mm nuts welded on for added clamping force. Add a piece of angle or square tubing between the tabs to remove sideways movement.
At destination remove the new aframe bracket and replace original bumper. Never never lock or even remove the key from the ignition. I'll be at my bakkie on Wednesday, if you are interested, I can provide you with detail images and measurements.

i reckon if we did this in australia wed be locked up!
id love a set up like this to tow the 1200

Its actualy quite safe if its done right, far safer than towing dollies thats for bloody sure! those things are like death!
Ye, Racetech, i dont think ill get it right without removing the front bumper/brackets,,, its not a major prob to do so, i was just hoping for an easier solution.

Yeah im seeing that, cutting for me isnt and option, not on a B110 as clean and origional as this
