I have the nipples on the top on the rear discs on the ute and they bleed fine. It actually helps to get the bubbles up i think.

we have to be careful how to word this sort of message ... Unfamilia is lurking and would comment on bleeding nipples

You might want to swap the calipers up the other way as they will be hard to bleed unless the nipple is at the top.

Check the clearance with the steering arm/knuckle too.
