#1 Airbox ideas?
levey Posted on: 2010/10/4 10:27
Anyone have any good ideas for an airbox to suit twin dello's in a 1200?
The one that I made will not pass for rego due to limited clearance to the strut tower, I modded it as much as I can for more clearance, any more and the air filters wont fit.
So might make another one maybe with a pod filter, any ideas or links on where to buy one ready made would be great.
Cheers, Levey.

Here is a pic of the airbox:

Kiwi Box

Air Box?

I went for a 180B SSS SU air box one but was told it may be too short (I've never actually matched one up). So I went with an early 240z air-box. Some euro twin carb cars had some REALLY smart ones but they're hard to find and cost alot.

You have companies like ITG and Piper-X that make some pretty cool off the shelf items but they're not really an air box as the filters are still exposed. There are a few UK and USA companies that make carbon fibre ones but they go for $350.00+.

As for ones actually fitted to Datsuns you may have to wait for dd for some more pictures. Everyone seems to go for the redline 'sports filter' chrome boxes (which are the biggest pieces of #OOPS# I have ever used) or just use filter-socks.

i'm considering rigging up a half intercooler setup down the track, block one side of the intercooler off and have a pipe running directly to a box connected to dellorto's or whatever other type of carbys. probs sounds odd but makes sense in my head :P

How s*#t is that, i dont see why it wont pass as long as its not hitting any where!!! I would not touch it and ill find someone else who will pass it. Thats a neat air box. If you were in nsw im sure i would get it passed.

its probably closer to the strut tower at the bottom of the filter housing- seeing as it comes i a bit as it meets the chasis rails
