Hi folks - has anyone out there got a stock 4 speed that they have totally destroyed beyond repair? if you do please pm me. I'm looking for one to measure up or graft the bellhousing onto a bluebird 5 speed, so the worse condition it's in, the better. I'm doing it as an experiment, and if it works, I'll share pics/how to/results in the forum

how do you get around the difference in input shaft size between the L & A series box?

Hi John, I have a jig if you want to borrow it(for the same conversion). It can also be used for adapting any other gearbox to a 56A belhousing section.
Im hols at the mo, So i can drop it off to you if you`re interested. Be good to meet you aswell. Simon. 0407 301 518

Simon any chance of doing my w57/8/9 hybrid box in the near future
to fit the A series? I really want the 5 speed happening since no diff centre avail for the h145/150 will lower the revs with a stock jatco 3 speed.

input shaft size - custom spigot (or home spun on lathe) and possibly custom clutch. It shouldn't be too hard. I recall a post here about being able to modify an a series flywheel to take a particular L series pressure plate (I think) so maybe I'll end up with a combo like that, which would also make for a better clutch option for a boosted A series.
Simon - I'd love a lend of that jig I'll call when I get a chance in the next day or so. Bruce - from memory you are closer, so I'll send you a pm about grabbing the bellhousing.

Hey guys - since this has started to move into tech related stuff rather than for sale / wanted etc - I've started a new thread in the main forum:
http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/v ... id=342721#forumpost342721 Bruce I'll try and get in touch tomorrow. I am curious - if this happens to work out well, would anyone be interested in one for themselves? I've not got a tig, but I do have access to one (and a lathe and a mill for that matter) so could probably do a few if I get some time. No promises yet or anything, I'll see how it goes, but it'd be interestig to know who might put their hand up if I did a few of them.
