Mine is just the plate and a skim of rubber on top maybe 2mm thick :)

I'm pulling mine out and replacing it with some flat pieces of rubber, just to stop the metal rubbing on metal.

Save your bump stops and do what I'm doing.

Buy the thick rubber from Clark rubber. I think I got the 5mm thick stuff, cost me a couple of dollars. You can also get super thick 20mm stuff (10mm, 15mm).

check chris's build thread. its all in there. i think he took 2/3rds out of the front bump stops... dont know what would happen if you just took the whole thing out? rear is all about playing with flipping leafs around till your happy.

Don;t sandblast the bonnet!! I f-ed mine up a couple of years ago on my 1000 I shipped up to PNG. Lowest pressure and slightest angle and it still warped. Remember there is also heat generated from the abrasion so it will almost certainly warp.

Soda blasting maybe but in the meantime stick to stripper and sanding blocks.
