Perhaps not a direct answer to your question, but I just fitted some 185/55/14's to my coupe and it is great, overall diameter is similar to the original 12 inch wheels (155/80/12)?
The turns in much better and accelerates noticibly quicker than with the 195/50/15's I had on it, however it does rev noticibly harder at speed on the highway/ motorway.

I am running Toyo Proxes R888 in 225/45 R-13 On 7" wide rims. Almost 8 and a half inches of rubber on the ground! The grip is phenomenal! 1.12 G's on the skidpad! I run through the canyons with friends and the only car faster around the corners is a subaru WRX that's set up for autocross!

225! That's what they usually fit to a 3200 pound sport coupe.
Nice craftman-ship.

I think i wouldn't go over 205...
For street,it might wear out the bushing, ball joint n steering system... Im thinking of using 195/50r15... But as stated by Jmac, the cornering grip is affected by many factors...

Been running it daily this way for about a year now with no wear issues. Just be sure to use Japanese wheel bearings, and not Chinese or India made ones. I had 185/60 13's on the front and 205/60 13's on the back previously. The 205's were too tall for the front and would foul on the drivers compartment. The 225/45's are an inch smaller in diameter and I get to run the same size all around which is good for rotating as the tires wear. Plus there's that phenomenal grip and the cool looking wide stance!

They are excellent in the wet! I've yet to get the car loose. Better than the RA1's in the rain.

LOWTECH,
Great stance! Sits over that fat rubber perfectly What are the flares? Specific type or just generics?
