Would be going bike engine for sure as specialised engines
are ridiculously expensive and maybe not available for
this particular midget class where so many bike engines
meet the capacity and kill anything custom made.

In 2 valve form very few engine can beat the A series for
the same capacity weight except for a renault and isuzu.
The renault 1.5/6 of the 70s world champion rallye specials
and at summernats one gemini 1.8 litre 8v made over 220hpatw
so a 1.6 with the same tech could get there with rpm.
The isuzu blocks are have no main bearing skirt like the CA
but the isuzu heads have better 8v head designs.

He wants to go to an E series nissan engine, sure bike engines can make bigger numbers but they are on the ragged edge and grenade regularly. Three bike engines blew up in the first race at the last meeting.

G'day Geoff, is this where the 1500 crank I sent you went, very impressive!

Was talking to Oges yesterday, looking forward to catching up with him and Speedy this week end at Gallangowan.

Can anyone in speedway tell me what the e15 engines are
doing for HP these days to see them preferred over the
higher priced and collectable A series?

Hello Gary, yes that crank went into building this one, i would have liked to come down for Gallangowan. But we had already booked a week on Magnetic Island so we all went and put our feet up, i read their web site that they have postponed til next year sort of expected it with all the rain leading up to it. Did the boys tell you speedy tipped the maverick over?
cheers
D - the E series are around 200-205

they definately spin up faster than the A series
as I remember a high comp rebuilt one with headers
and 32/36 holley carbed setup used to bruise many
bigger engined cars yet gave 35mpg
My buddy used to rave about it in his early pulsar
coupe but only later when I drove it I realised his
enthusiasm for the little tick tocker was no BS.
