all of the after market heads are designed with a very high roof in the ports. this allows the so called short turn to have a lot larger radius, which makes the head flow alot better, the ports are all about raising them, and making the short turn less of a right angle turn.the problem with a series ,is that you often you hit water when raising port.takes lots of time ,welding and experience to get it right.lots of power is made by the head and a number of other things. a good engine, is a combo of a everything.to many to list.(been there done that) cheers ernie

Nice car you have there.I have not been racing mine for three years now,it is about time I start putting it back together (when I think about it that is when I bought and started restoring my 1200,now that I am driving it the interest in racing has somewhat vanished,or maybe it is age?).Can you give some more details about your car, like what you have for brakes, suspension, gearbox?

I think just going to a more stout connecting rod, carillo etc., in conjunction with your existing specs should work well. Roller rockers will help eliminate some frictional losses. What rulebook do you have to stick to? FIA spec, local group etc. The A=series build is well documented: In the U.S. A-series engines use the race/GX head with bigger valves, 14-1 compression, .495 lift with 300 degrees duration camshaft, Weber DCOE carbs (40mm or bigger), roller rockers, crank fire ignition, dry sump & 7lb flywheel. This makes 100HP at the wheels for an A12.
If you're only restriction is a stock block then you could do some radical things like configuring the port angle.
I'l also curious about what gearbox, etc. is in your car..........are there close ratio boxes availible for FWD as well as limited slip diffs?

Mine only has a standard N10 pulsar 5 speed gearbox there was other gear sets originally made for the factory race cars and an LSD (rare as rocking horse poo). Mine is to be used for hillclimbs motokhana's and maybe a track day or two.
