if I was going to rear engine the car I would go with the SR20. I have measured the back of the car and Im sure I could justcut the floor out and bolt a front cross member/engine frame under the car. that would let me do the A14 and N10 pulsar enigne in to the car.

Yum, A15 in the rear of the 120A. A hybrid if you will.

i think I rear engined coupe would be great to. I just dont think I could do it to mine. maybe one of the sedans I would!

Id really like Nick or someone else to make a tube box section
for a qr20de or other fwd-->rwd setup.
The cherry coupe would be awesome as a rear engined beast.

Ive been thinking for while also of a similar setup for my 1000
to sit in the rear like the Minis going around.

I think Troy the issue with FWD and too much power is the torque
and losing wheel traction/grip so a Ducati would be the wrong engine.
A Revvy 4 cylinder would be more matching or for less than a ducati
and a little more than some 4 cyl a v4 honda would rule as they are
not built for torque but as all honda engines revs and hp.

what sort of power is to much power for a FWD?

Rallytwit I to think a nice Ducati v-twin would sound good and completely different to the Hayabusa or R1 Yamaha powered cars I think price for the ducati would be the killer of doing that conversion.

Motorcycle engines in lightweight cars do really make sense, as much as I love the A-series if I weren't concerned about keeping the car vintage legal I'd do it in a heart beat. A regular street bike engine has the same level of technology as a pure race engine.

Now for a Cherry a bike motor would be a slam dunk: first ditch the engine and tranny. On our bike powered single seater my fabricator used an H145 limited slip, which he sealed, then machined a sprocket so it would bolt on just like a ring gear, then made up a carrier that pivoted so the chain could be adjusted, after that VW FWD half shafts bolted to to the LSD assembly. So for a Cherry your could use the standard half shafts bolting to a custom diff spocket assembly. I'm thinking a nice Ducati v-twin would sound really sweet but cost wise something Japanese would work better. You'd should end up with 175HP, stone axe reliable and likely drop the weight of the car by 50KG...........what's not to like.

Not much room for longer conrods but I dont think its an
issue as you wont be revving over 9000rpm?

If so you FWD guys might as well fit E series engine in there
or ga16de engines which have almost the same bellhousing pattern.
Especially if its for racing only.
The ga16de has potential to make 180-190hp or 25% less than a sr16vve.
In turbo form some ga16de are around 280-320hp atw.
