Thanks Jeff I often wonder how my old coupe is going I miss that car. I know what you mean with kids they definitely slow things down a bit I have a 15 and 11 year old.
We did play with the cam timing a bit with the old engine made a little difference but not that much.Just shifted where it made the power was dialed in for more midrange
Im using bigger cams tomei 270deg with 8.8 lift in my engine now but left the cams in the stock position. From memory the old CA that you have now made around 180kw on 15psi close to 250hp and 230kw on 22 psi around 300hp would run hot on the higher boost on circuit so left it on the lower boost level for most events. My new engine in the ute is pretty full on large 5557 turbo stroker bottom end running on E85 makes 285kw on 22psi and 347kw on 32psi So much fun to drive a little out of control. Love to hear how yours is going. Thanks for the update

Hi Andrew. Your ute is looking great and not as dusty as your old coupe is in my shed. Kids seam to take a toll on motorsport. I would love to know more about the adjustable cams, are the the same as the coupe. I am able to get around 250hp @16 psi but can't get near your old 300hp+ figues. do you remember if you played with cams.

Like I have said before the coupe turns heads and I know I will kick myself if ever I sell it it is over 40 years old now and aging better than me.

Jeff

When Andrew sold it to me it was running Avgas and tuned to 22psi, making 230rwkw.

I had it retuned to 15psi IIRC on pump 98 and made 180rwkw. Felt very tame compared to the previous 230! Pretty sure I sent you the laptop & serial cable with the other tune file saved on it. All you have to do is load that up and fill it with Avgas...

Personally, I'd retune for e85 these days. You should gain an extra ~30rwkw on top of that and it will run cooler. Can't remember the injector sizes, but assume you'd need to upgrade them to run e85.

Hey mate I have a question about your gearbox, was it brand new when u put it in and you wrecked it quickly or was it a low km import item?I ask because I can decide what to put in mine brand new rb25($2899) or go a sr20 with os giken gearset rated at 600hp for roughly $3700.

The gearbox that broke was a second hand Jap import box. I didn't break the gears was the Syncro detent springs that had popped out making it crunch gears. I had also broken the 3rd 4th selector fork. I now runnign a brand new box with PPG billet selectors without issue I have just finished rebuilding the old box so have a spare as well. If you go the RB box yu will have to modify teh belhousing and a few other bits and pieces of you go the OSG the SR and CA gearbox is basically the same. would be less work in my opinion. Really depends on the power you are going to make and how you treat it

Mcdat the ca18,sr20 rb20 box are pretty much the same all the bellhousing are interchangeable, the rb25 box is stronger and takes more work cutting/shutting the bellhousing, if your going for all that power get a rb25 box to suit and get a jim berry clutch ect like Andrew has

Hey supafato,so when u say interchangeable do u mean that the front bellhousing can be taken off with the bolts in the centre of the casing and bolt the ca onto the sr with slight mods.
